The Grodan Hugo Block is a large professional stone wool growing block designed to provide substantial root-zone volume for vigorous plant development.
With dimensions of 15 × 15 × 15 cm / approximately 6 × 6 × 6", Hugo provides enough substrate volume to support larger plants throughout an extended cultivation cycle.
This version features two transplanting holes with diameters of 28 mm and 38 mm, allowing different compatible starter plugs to be transplanted directly into the block.
Once a young plant has developed a healthy and established root system in its starter plug, it can be transferred into the Hugo Block for continued root expansion and plant development.
The large stone wool volume provides the root system with substantial space to colonise while maintaining the controlled water and air conditions associated with professional stone wool cultivation.
Grodan recommends beginning with healthy, vigorous plants with well-developed roots before transplanting into Hugo Blocks. During the establishment phase, multiple smaller irrigation events can be used while the roots progressively colonise the block.
The Hugo Block offers flexible irrigation options and can be hand-watered, supplied through drip irrigation or used in compatible ebb-and-flow systems.
Its large format makes Hugo particularly suitable for growers who want to cultivate larger individual plants without immediately transferring them into a separate stone wool slab.
